Beside the Ancient Echoes Interpretive Centre (SW corner of the Village)

Reason for Building:

To commemorate the 9th Earl of Southesk's trip to the area in 1859. He is believed to be the first European to come to the area. He shot a plains grizzly bear in the area. Plains Grizzlys were once prevelant in the area.
