To commemorate the 40th anniversary of Wiarton Willie's prognostications.

Additional Information:

Actual name of the statue is "Willie Emerging." Wiarton Willie is the name of the groundhog which predicts when spring will arrive each February 2.

The Wiarton Lions Club commissioned the statue.
